Fairfield, Iowa hawthorne direct, the direct response TV advertising agency, earned five Aegis Awards from the 16th annual competition. Wagner Control Spray, Holloway House Quick Shine and The Evinrude E-TEC (produced in conjunction with Cramer-Krasselt and Group Mojo) won in the category of TV commercial. Knock Out Household Cleaning System and AARP DRTV commercials were finalist award winners in that same category.

“It is great to win our first award for the Wagner Control Spray infomercial, and of course, to receive recognition for several of our other works,” said Timothy R. Hawthorne, founder, chairman and executive creative director of hawthorne direct.

Wagner Control Spray Infomercial Description:

This Infomercial presents the Wagner Control Spray, a revolutionary paint sprayer with “Lock-N-Go” technology that allows a person to paint smart and paint fast. It gives the user maximum control of both spray volume and pattern while delivering more paint, stain and sealer onto weekend projects and less into the air. Demonstrations show how easy it is to use, and how it makes changing paints and stains, and clean up, fast and simple.

The show depicts three challenges featuring the Wagner Control Spray versus ordinary painting supplies. The first experiment was a race to finish a number of a neighborhood’s painting projects; another test was a competition to seal the wood on a baseball diamond’s bleachers, dugout and benches; and the final battle featured a sprint to paint a set of outdoor louvered shutters.

The results? The Control Spray finished all the neighborhood projects before the brush application team got half way through theirs, finished the entire baseball diamond in one day, and completed the shutters before the brush had finished one third of the project.

QuickShine, a high-quality professional floor care product developed for industrial use and now available to the consumer, solves the common problems that people encounter when caring for their floors. It provides an instant mirror-like gloss that is more brilliant and lasts longer than any other floor shine product on the market. The creative objective was to show the dramatic transformation from scuffed, worn floors into beautifully shining floors. The marketing objective was to launch a successful DRTV campaign as well as drive retail sales and to make the name Holloway House a household word.

Evinrude E-TEC Infomercial Description:

This Infomercial introduces a new and advanced outboard motor from Evinrude that is faster, tougher and needs less maintenance than other leading outboards. The objective was to create a documentary-style Long Form advertisement that would highlight the design advantages of the new Evinrude E-TEC two-stroke engine. It compares the new E-TEC to the competition in head-to-head comparisons including a drag race between the Yamaha and Mercury 225 engines against the 225 E-TEC. The composition features beautiful footage from speeding boats and overhead shots from a helicopter.

KnockOut Household Cleaning System

George Foreman introduces the KnockOut Household Cleaning System which knocks out germs, grease and grime without harmful chemicals. The system includes four products: a multi-purpose cleaner, a deep-stain remover, a streak-free glass cleaner and a super disinfectant. George Foreman and Terri Ouilette co-host this Infomercial, demonstrate the products and present testimonials from those who have used them. The Super Disinfectant is the first Environmental Protection Agency-approved disinfectant, made of botanical extracts, killing 99 percent of bacteria. All of the products are 100 percent environmentally safe and free of harmful chemicals. George Foreman says cleaning up the environment and protecting families is now his big fight and he sincerely endorses this breakthrough cleaning system.
