RCN Corporation (NASDAQ:RCNI), a leading provider of triple play cable, high-speed Internet and phone services, today announced a contract with Tribune, one of the country's top media companies, to launch the WB High Definition Signal and to renew its retransmission consent agreement. This means that RCN will continue to carry Tribune programming on its systems and has begun offering the WB High Definition Network in the RCN HD suite of HD channels.
The WB stations that have launched "high-def" programs on RCN's network are WPIX-TV in New York City, WBDC-TV in Washington, D.C., WLVI-TV in Boston and WGN-TV In Chicago. Later this month, WPHL-TV in Philadelphia will have its digital, high-def WB programs carried by RCN.
