Gemstar-TV Guide Names Richard Cusick Senior Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media; Newly Created Role Reflects Company's Expanded Presence in Emerging Media Platforms

Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. (Nasdaq: GMST), the leading provider of television information and guidance, announced today it has promoted Richard Cusick to the newly created position of senior vice president and general manager, Digital Media. Mr. Cusick, who has been senior vice president, Business Development and Strategic Planning for Gemstar-TV Guide since February 2004, will be responsible for the digital media development for the company, including the oversight of the TVGuide.com and TV Guide Mobile businesses. He will report to Rich Battista, chief executive officer for Gemstar-TV Guide.

As senior vice president, Business Development and Strategic Planning, Mr. Cusick has been responsible for development activities across the company, and has played a key role in strategic planning and corporate transactions. Most recently, Mr. Cusick oversaw the creation of the company's mobile initiative, which includes development and distribution of the company's interactive program guide for mobile phones, as well as TV Guide-branded content and information.

Prior to joining Gemstar-TV Guide, Mr. Cusick worked on Wall Street for three years as an investment banker for Lehman Brothers and Bear Sterns in their media and communications divisions. During that time, he served as the in-house expert on interactive TV, worked on a number of assignments involving the sale of cable networks, and provided advisory services to clients including Time Warner and Disney. Prior to that, Mr. Cusick was a telecommunications consultant for the Commission of the European Communities in Belgium. Mr. Cusick graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University, and has a Juris Doctorate and a Master of Business Administration degree from Ohio State University.
