Lifetime Brands Acquires Salton's Tabletop Assets

WESTBURY, N.Y.-Boosting its tabletop holdings, Lifetime Brands here acquired certain tabletop assets from Salton, Inc. for $14.2 million Sept. 20.

Included in the deal are Salton's Block and Sasaki brands, licenses to market Calvin Klein and NapaStyle tabletop products and distribution of upscale crystal products under the Atlantis brand. In addition, Lifetime entered into a new license with Salton to market tabletop products under the Stiffel brand. Net sales related to the acquired assets were approximately $20 million for the twelve months ended June 30.

This latest purchase extends Lifetime's distribution to the fine china and crystal categories. Starting with its acquisition of certain assets from Excel Importing Corp. in July 2004, Lifetime Brands struck up a first deal in the tabletop category. In July, it acquired certain assets of The Pfaltzgraff Co.

Lifetime Brands is a designer, marketer and distributor of kitchenware, cutlery and cutting boards, bakeware and cookware, pantryware and spices, tabletop and bath accessories thatmarkets its products under various trade names including KitchenAid, Cuisinart, DBK-Daniel Boulud Kitchen, Joseph Abboud Environments, Kathy Ireland, Baker's Hoffritz, Kamenstein and Sabatier.
