Name of product: Perfect Air Ultra Air Purifiers.

Units: About 35,000.

Manufacturer: Well Brain International Ltd. of Tsimshatsui, Hong Kong.

Retailer: Thane International of La Quinta, Calif.

Hazard: An overheating capacitor in these air purifiers can cause arcing in a connecting wire which poses the risk of fire.

Incidents/injuries: Thane has received six reports of incidents involving these air purifiers catching on fire or melting. Thane has also received six units which were returned by customers and show some evidence of melting and/or charring. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The Perfect Air Ultra is an air filtration device to counter indoor air pollution. It measures approximately 12 inches high, 15 inches wide and 6 inches deep, and weighs about 3.2 pounds. The outer casing is made of white plastic and has a gray function plate that is inserted into the top of the unit. The purifier has four stacked tubular rows with a series of horizontal vents along the length of each row. "Perfect Air Ultra" is not written on the unit, but is written on the instruction booklet included with the unit.

Sold on: Television infomercials and via direct sales on Thane's Web site from February 2004 through December 2004 for about $100.

Manufactured in: China.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the air purifiers immediately and contact Thane for instructions on how to return them and receive a coupon for credit toward other Thane products.

>Fairy Wands

Name of product: DesignWare 4 Fairy Wand Party Favors.

Units: About 14,200 packages containing four wands each.

Distributor: American Greetings Corporation of Cleveland.

Hazard: The fairy wand party favors can break apart, exposing sharp wires that pose a laceration hazard to children.

Incidents/injuries: No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled fairy wands are pink or purple with multi-colored beads, feathers and ribbons. The wands are 7 inches long. There are four wands in each package. The packaging has a light pink cardboard backer. Model number WAND1361 is written on the back of the packaging.

Sold at: Discount, toy, drug, grocery, party and specialty gift stores nationwide from March 2003 through September 2005 for about $4.

Manufactured in: China.

Remedy: Consumers should take the recalled wands away from young children immediately. Contact the firm for a coupon redeemable wherever American Greetings products are sold.

>Candeliers

Name of product: Glass votive candle holders included with Old Taylor Estate Candelier.

Units: About 288,800 votive candle holders.

Manufacturer: The glass votive candle holders were manufactured for Southern Living At HOME of Birmingham, Ala.

Problem: These votive glass candle holders can break unexpectedly during use.

Incidents/injuries: Southern Living as HOME has received 15 reports of glass votive candle holders breaking unexpectedly. There are no reported injuries or damage.

Description: This recall involves the Old Taylor Estate Candelier with item number 40697 (the item number is located on one side and the top of each box). The chandeliers have eight glass votive candle holders. Old Taylor Estate Candeliers purchased after September 2005 are not included in this recall.

Sold at: Southern Living At Home consultants sold these chandeliers including the glass votive candle holders at home parties nationwide from June 2005 through September 2005 for about $80.

Manufactured in: China.

Remedy: Southern Living At Home will notify consumers who purchased the recalled glass votive candle holders directly and will ship free replacement glass votive candle holders.

>Suzuki ATVs

Name of product: Suzuki 2005 model year LT-A700XK5 King Quad ATVs.

Units: About 19,600.

Manufacturer: Suzuki Motor Corp. of Japan.

Distributors: American Suzuki Motor Corp. of Brea, Calif.; Montgomery Motors Ltd. of Honolulu, Hawaii; Suzuki Del Caribe of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.

Hazard: Use of an improper tie rod adjustment procedure during assembly could lead to separation of the tie rod end housing from the attachment shaft. This could cause the rider to lose control of the ATV and result in injury or death.

Incidents/injuries: American Suzuki has received eight reports of tie rod end separation, and no reports of injuries.

Description: The recall involves Suzuki 2005 model year LT- A700XK5 King Quad ATVs. They are adult-size ATVs designed for use by riders age 16 and older. These ATVs are available in yellow, green, or red and have the King Quad model name on the side of the fuel tank.

Sold by: Suzuki dealers nationwide from September 2004 through October 2005 for about $7,200.

What to do: Consumers should stop using these ATVs immediately and contact a local Suzuki dealer to schedule an appointment for repair service.
