Media Buyers See Growing TV Audience

Major broadcast networks are drawing stronger ratings for the 2004-05 season after several years of decline, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

The paper said top media buyers at a business gathering in New York Tuesday said the top networks have gotten the season off to a surprisingly good start.

That hasn't happened in a while, said Bill Cella, chairman and CEO of New York-based media shop Magna Global USA.

Cella was one of the speakers at a breakfast sponsored by International Radio and Television Society Foundation.

MediaCom U.S. chairman Jon Mandel said for the first time in recent memory, each of the networks has some successful programming to promote. He singled out ABC, which has been drawing relatively strong audience share for two new dramatic series, Lost and Desperate Housewives.
