SportsNet New York, the regional network that carries Mets' games, has reached a long-term agreement with DirecTV Inc., the largest U.S. satellite television provider.
SNY, which went on the air March 16, already is carried by several cable systems, including Comcast, Time Warner and Cablevision.
The company did not disclose financial terms of its agreement with DirecTV.
"We appreciate the patience of the many Mets' fans who were eagerly waiting to watch an exciting Mets team on SNY via DirecTV," said Dan Fawcett, an executive vice president of programming acquisition for DirecTV.
The Mets opened the regular season Monday with a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals, about four hours before the deal with DirecTV was announced.
Up to 125 of the Mets' 162 regular-season games will be carried on SNY, which is jointly owned by Comcast, the world's largest cable- TV operator; Time Warner Inc., the world's largest media company; and Sterling Entertainment LCC, a company formed by the Mets.
SNY also provides coverage of the Jets and college basketball and football games from the Big East and Big Ten conferences.
