The New York Times Company Broadcast Media Group announced today that C. Lou Kirchen has been named divisional vice president and Christine M. Di Stadio has been named senior vice president of marketing and new media. Both appointments are effective immediately.

In her new role, Ms. Kirchen will oversee management of four of the Group's television properties: WNEP-TV in Scranton, Penn.; WTKR-TV in Norfolk, Va.; WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Ala.; and WQAD-TV in Moline, Ill. Tim Morrissey, a current divisional vice president for the Group, will oversee management of the four other Group television properties: KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City, Okla.; WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa; KFSM-TV in Ft. Smith, Ark.; and WREG-TV in Memphis, Tenn.
Ms. Kirchen, 55, has been president and general manager of WNEP-TV since 2001 and will retain this position. Previously she was vice president and general manager for WOWT-TV in Omaha, Neb., from May 2000 to 2001. From 1995 to 2000 she was vice president and general manager of WBTW-TV in the Florence/Myrtle Beach, S.C., market. From 1988 to 1995, she held positions as general sales manager, local sales manager and regional sales manager at WBTW-TV.
Ms. Kirchen has served on numerous boards in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton, Penn. area, including the Boys and Girls Club, United Way - Luzerne County, Scranton Cultural Center, Dress for Success, Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters, Penn State Wilkes-Barre Advisory Committee, Keystone College Advisory Board and Scranton Chamber of Commerce. She also served on several boards in Omaha and Florence/Myrtle Beach during her tenure at stations in those markets, including the Nebraska Broadcasters Association, Urban League of Nebraska, Board Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and South Carolina Broadcasters Association.
Ms. Kirchen received the Spartan Communications Oscar Award for individual Performance and Commitment to Excellence in 1995 and the Pee Dee Area Girl Scouts' award for Outstanding Woman of the year in Business and Industry in 1999.
Ms. Kirchen attended Shepherd College and West Virginia University, majoring in English.
Ms. Di Stadio, 40, was previously vice president of marketing and new media for the Group since 2000 and vice president of marketing for the Group since 1995. In these roles, she was responsible for assisting stations with multimedia campaigns, research projects and customer development strategies to achieve revenue goals. She also helped formalize and create the Broadcast Media Group's New Media division. She joined WREG-TV as marketing director from WNEP-TV in 1995. She first joined The New York Times Broadcast Media Group at WNEP-TV in 1989 as a marketing assistant. Since then, she held a number of marketing positions, including director of marketing and group director of marketing. She began her career in 1987 at C-TEC Corporation in Wilkes-Barre, Penn. as a research assistant and then advertising coordinator.
Ms. Di Stadio currently serves on the Board for Family Services of the Mid-South and is a past Board Member for the Downtown Memphis YMCA. She is an active member of the Memphis Rotary Club, Advertising Federation, Downtown Neighborhood Association, Memphis Symphony League, Volunteer Memphis and the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
Ms. Di Stadio received her B.S. degree in marketing and business management from College Misericordia in 1987 and an M.B.A. in marketing from Wilkes University in 1989.
