TANDBERG Television and NBC Bring Unprecedented Interactivity to 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Telecast; Viewers Will Experience Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Access via Interactive Broadband TV Programming on Sunday, August 27th
TANDBERG Television (OSE:TAT) and NBC announced today that the 58th Primetime Emmy Awards telecast will provide audiences with exclusive, live behind-the-scenes access via unique broadband TV interactivity and immerse television fans in the awards ceremony like never before through its "NBC Emmy Awards Interactive" application.
During the awards telecast this Sunday, August 27 (8-11 p.m. EDT), television fans will be able to make their opinions known and test their trivia skills against thousands of other viewers. The interactive broadband TV application on NBC.com will enhance the televised broadcast on NBC by allowing fans to log on and share their winner predictions and fashion critiques.
The interactive television application, designed and powered by TANDBERG Television and sponsored exclusively by Target, will provide viewers with an unprecedented level of immersion via exclusive access to live, behind-the-scenes video feeds and real-time blog postings written backstage by NBC producers. Target will be giving away 10 $500 gift cards to several lucky participants, chosen at random.
During the show, viewers will answer real-time television trivia questions and polls. They can also earn points for each correct answer and compare their responses to those of other players. The synchronized interactive experience will heighten the suspense before each winner is revealed while providing viewers an immediate connection to both the prestigious awards ceremony and -- through live poll results -- each other. Viewers will also be tuned into the TV gala and rate the stars' outfits, grade their speeches, tackle TV trivia and predict the evening's winners.
"Enabling viewers to interact with each other while providing them with a more exciting and in-depth way to watch the Emmy Awards was a key consideration for this year's telecast," said Stephen Andrade, vice president of interactive development, NBC Entertainment. "We're tremendously excited to provide television fans with a way to access exclusive behind-the-scenes video feeds and blogs from the awards show while interacting in real time with their fellow television fans."
"The recent rise in social networking sites and other peer-driven technologies proves that consumers are eager to seek out new levels of interactivity with their peers," said Braxton Jarratt, senior vice president of marketing and business development, TANDBERG Television, Inc. "Our work on NBC's telecast of the 58th annual Emmy Awards shows how interactive technologies can enable cutting-edge networks like NBC and advertisers like Target to deliver a more dynamic experience to viewers that will enrich their enjoyment of the show and their engagement with brands."
NBC's annual telecast of The Primetime Emmy Awards is the world's largest awards ceremony dedicated to achievements in television. TANDBERG Television has previously provided interactive features for the 2006 NBC telecast of the Golden Globes.
