TV Portal Service to Form Platform for Giving Info to TV Viewers

Tokyo, Oct. 2 (Jiji Press)--TV Portal Service Corp., an Internet service provider for digital television, said Monday it will set up a platform to allow TV viewers to receive information for daily life with still pictures.

The new service based on the platform, called acTVila, will be launched on Feb. 1, 2007, TV Portal Service officials said.

By the end of fiscal 2007, TV Portal Service will start distributing moving images to TV users. In February 2007, It will absorb Tnavi, similar service now offered by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. .

TV Portal Service was formed in Tokyo last July jointly by Sony Corp. , Sony Communication Network Corp., Sharp Corp. , Toshiba Corp. and Hitachi Ltd. in addition to Matsushita.END
