-- AeroGrow Featured on QVC for a Second Time, Sells Twice as Many Gardens and 3 Times as Many Seed Kits in 10 Minutes, Far Exceeding Expectations
-- AeroGrow Completes 30-minute Infomercial, Now Airing on National Cable and Broadcast TV in 10 Major Markets
-- 60-Second TV Commercials Completed, To Begin Airing in October to Targeted Metro Markets Starting in New York
AeroGrow International, Inc. ("AeroGrow" or "the Company"), makers of the AeroGarden(TM) kitchen garden appliance, announced today that the AeroGarden made its second successful QVC appearance and dramatically improved on its impressive first airing sales figures, selling twice as many gardens and almost 3 times as many seed kits as it did during the first airing. AeroGrow is scheduled to appear again on QVC November 1, 2006.
QVC is the world's largest television retailer with live, 24-hour a day sales telecasts into more than 85 million U.S. households and more than $6.5 billion in annual sales.
AeroGrow has also completed the production of its 30-minute infomercial, which is airing on national cable and selected TV markets nationwide. A sample selection of national cable airings includes HGTV (Home and Garden Television), Hallmark, TLC (The Learning Channel), The Travel Channel, FIT TV, Fine Living and many more. The infomercial has also begun testing on local broadcast TV in dozens of major markets, including Chicago, New York City, Detroit, Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Portland, Phoenix and San Diego.
"The infomercial has the potential to be our largest single revenue channel by a sizable margin for the next 12 months or more," said Michael Bissonnette, CEO of AeroGrow. "We are currently evaluating media buying patterns, conversion rates and upsell ratios to build our knowledge base as we look to expand our national media buys."
AeroGrow has retained the services of two leading firms specializing in the Direct Response TV industry, Euro RSCG ("Euro") as a media buying agency and InPulse Response ("InPulse") as a telemarketing firm.
Euro (www.eurorscg.com) is the world's largest provider of full service short and long form Direct Response TV (DRTV) advertising with more than 200 offices worldwide and was selected by AeroGrow to purchase and analyze advertising time on broadcast and national cable television. Headquartered in San Diego, CA, Euro was founded in 1988 and has placed more than $2.5 billion in media, generating more than $7 billion in sales for its clients, which include key DRTV players such as Apple Computers, Bissell, Body by Jake, Bowflex, Brita, HealthRider, Life Fitness, NordicTrack, Sears, Sharper Image, Soloflex, Weight Watchers and hundreds more.
InPulse Response (www.inpulseresponse.com), one of the largest U.S.-based telesales firms in the Direct Response industry, was chosen to handle the 24-hour a day call volume expected from AeroGrow's infomercial and other TV airings. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, InPulse was founded in 1994 and has almost 1,000 sales reps that will handle over 7 million calls this year for many of the leading marketers in DRTV, direct response radio and print advertising.
AeroGrow has also completed two 60-second TV spots and will begin testing them on national cable and local networks in October, beginning in New York. The 60-second spots allow for more specific demographic targeting than is offered by traditional 30-minute infomercial buys, with the opportunity to run during regular programming on local and national cable such as HGTV, the Food Network, and others.
