Cairo.com, the free online service for finding local sales, today announced the appointment of Frank Han as President and Chief Executive Officer. Han joins Cairo.com from television retailer HSN, where he led HSN.com and spearheaded dramatic growth in its online business.
An e-commerce innovator, Han will oversee all aspects of Cairo.com's leading local sales shopping website and business. One of the early visionaries of e-tailing at eToys and co-founder of eToys.com, then the leading online retailer of children's products, Han was responsible both for leading the development of the award-winning consumer experience and for shepherding one of the industry's most significant IPOs.
"Frank is a strong leader and strategic thinker with a wealth of experience growing online consumer businesses," said Cairo.com Founder Andy Moss. "He thoroughly understands Cairo's role as a consumer advocate and how to meet the needs of our target audience. Frank will be instrumental in expanding both Cairo.com's consumer services as well as its distribution and partnership opportunities."
Most recently, Han served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of HSN.com, where he had P&L responsibility for this $300+ million business. Formerly, he served as Senior Vice President of eCommerce for Caesars Entertainment and Vice President of Interactive Markets for Union Bank of California, both of which experienced explosive online business growth under Han's management.
"Frank has been instrumental in taking new online consumer brands and turning them into household names," said David Sze, Cairo.com Board Member and General Partner of Greylock Partners. "His ability to extend brands and run extremely efficient enterprises makes him the ideal executive to lead Cairo.com into its next extreme growth phase."
Founded in 2003 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, Cairo, Inc. provides online services that help people save time and money when shopping offline at the "bricks and mortar" stores of major retail chains, such as K-Mart, Safeway and Best Buy, within a local market. Cairo.com aggregates regularly published promotion information within each market, delivering price transparency across retail stores near a consumer's zip code or street address. In addition, Cairo enables a unique consumer-centric channel for both retailers and manufacturers to reach consumers when they're choosing what and where to buy.
