Oct. 25--Jewelry Television will be holding a career fair Thursday to fill more than 100 new and existing positions in the network's customer call center.
The event will be held 3-8 p.m. at Rothchild Catering and Conference Center, 8807 Kingston Pike.
"In response to our continued growth -- and not to mention the upcoming holiday season -- we are looking to fill some existing seating and some new spots as a result of our call center expansion," said Rick White, vice president of customer care.
Network officials will be hiring customer care representatives who will be taking telephone orders from television broadcasts and other customer service duties. But because of the company's growth, officials point out that those positions could quickly lead to future promotions.
White said there could also be opportunities for the network to fill other positions at the career fair as "Jewelry Television continues to look for the best possible talent in the area."
About half of the open positions are existing vacancies. The other half will be new jobs as the network expands its call center to full capacity, bringing the total number of employees in that division to 300.
Since March, the 24-hour Knoxville-based shopping network has created 40 positions and hired a new chief operating officer. Jewelry Television, which projects sales of $400 million this year, employs almost 1,900 workers. It is building a $20 million headquarters that will add about 750 jobs and will open in West Knoxville in 2007. Expected future growth could increase employment to about 3,500 by 2013.
Interested applicants should bring a resume to the career fair, or simply be prepared to fill out a job application, Employment Manager Deborah Meacham said.
Network officials will be making job offers at the career fair, pending background checks and drug tests.
