Time Warner Cable Digital Phone Service Can Support Montoring of ADT Security Systems

Backchannelmedia

STAMFORD, CT, October 30, 2006 Time Warner Cable announced today that its Digital Phone service has been recognized by ADT Security Services, a unit of Tyco Fire & Security, as a primary method of alarm transmission to ADT's 24-hour Customer Monitoring Centers. ADT announced today that it is joining forces with cable and telecommunications providers to help ensure its security systems will continue to be able to communicate with its monitoring centers if a customer switches to an IP-based telephone service such as Time Warner Cable's Digital Phone service.

As part of its ongoing commitment to provide added value to its 1.6 million Digital Phone subscribers, Time Warner Cable worked with ADT to assure its customers that ADT's services were compatible with their Digital Phone service. The Company has confirmed that its phone service meets the necessary characteristics outlined by ADT. These include managing and maintaining a physical facilities network with major and minor disaster recovery plans in place and specific network power restoration procedures, providing professional installation that preserves primary line seizure for alarm signal transmission, and ensuring real-time transmission of voice signals, carrying alarm formats unchanged. Regardless of the type of phone service used, ADT recommends that customers use an additional back-up method of communication to connect their alarm system to ADT's monitoring centers.

Time Warner Cable recently received the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates 2006 award for highest ranking in the North Central Region in their Residential All-Distance Telephone Customer Satisfaction Study. The company also performed well in three additional regions, ranking higher than all of its competitors. The study, which measures customer satisfaction with both local and long distance telephone service, found that cable companies rank highest in customer satisfaction in five of six U.S. regions. In 2005, just one cable company led any of the regional customer satisfaction rankings.
