- Feb. 22--Jewelry Television will take the first step toward an estimated $20 million corporate headquarters along Pellissippi Parkway today when the Knox County Commission votes on tax incentives for the move.
- "We're busting at the seams here," Charles Wagner, chairman of the 24-hour shopping network's executive committee, said of the company's current location on Kingston Pike.
- The Development Corporation of Knox County owns the land, which is valued at $3.3 million.

- Feb. 25--The Inspiration Networks announced Thursday it has bought a new building in Charlotte and said media reports of a potential move to Lancaster County were premature.
- The Charlotte Business Journal reported this week that the company had plans to relocate to northern Lancaster County, creating a $65 million religious TV production center, Bible college and school of broadcasting at a location near U.S. 521 and S.C. 160 in the Indian Land area.
- It also was reported 200 workers would move from Charlotte to the new site, with more jobs expected to be created later.

- Focusing on advertising we found that advertisements in which the message was split between speech and iconic gesture (possible on TV) were significantly more effective than advertisements in which meaning resided purely in speech or language (radio/ newspaper).
- We compared the communicative power of professionally made TV advertisements in which a spoken message was accompanied either by iconic gestures or by pictorial images, and found the iconic gestures to be more effective.
